Flamengo offer 2028 deal to keep Pulgar, but stand-off remains | OneFootball

According to Globo.com, Flamengo have offered Erick Pulgar a pay rise and to extend his deal to the end of 2028, but talks remain at an impasse.

He began on the bench in the 1-1 draw with Inter at Beira-Rio and was not on the pitch when Flamengo conceded before the interval. Coach Leonardo Jardim’s choice drew attention given the risk of a move this window, though the Chilean remains valued at the club.

Pulgar has made a counterproposal and is awaiting a response. He is willing to earn less than abroad to stay, but wants pay closer to team-mates.

His release clause dropped to US$ four million in July, about R$ 20.4 million at current rates, enabling suitors to bypass talks with Flamengo. They can agree terms with the player then notify the club they will trigger the clause, as happened when Zenit signed Gerson in 2025.

Clubs from Saudi Arabia and the United States have approached his camp about paying it, and one Arab side has already agreed personal terms. Monaco have recently entered strongly, driven by new coach Filipe Luís, who worked with Pulgar at Flamengo.

At Flamengo since 2022, the 32-year-old has 166 appearances, five goals and nine assists, plus nine trophies, including the 2022 and 2025 Libertadores. His last renewal came in March last year, a rise that still left him below some midfielders who are not starters.
