Flamengo have launched ‘Manto da Nação’, an initiative placing supporters at the centre of creating a new official shirt. On Monday 17 August the club revealed 10 finalists and opened public voting.
The ballot runs until 30 August, deciding which design becomes the next official kit. Fans can vote at mantodanacao.flamengo.com.br. According to Coluna Do Fla, marketing chief Ricardo Hinrichsen said the project brings supporters closer to club initiatives and blends creativity, belonging and passion.
The finalists are: Adam Costa, ‘Prestígio Urbano’; Alison Douglas, ‘Noite Eterna de Lima’; Antonio Rodrigues, ‘É Urubu’; Bruno Gondim, ‘Urubu Rei’; Daniel Barbosa, ‘Respeita o Rei’; Luiz Gomes, ‘Uma Força da Natureza’; Marcelo Gluz, ‘Urubu de Lima’; Marcos Junior, ‘Manto Real’; Stephany Dalzisa, ‘Traços de uma Nação’; and Vitor Ferrara, ‘Pluma’.
A panel of curators selected the shortlist to marry creativity with Flamengo’s identity. Each concept references the club, the stands, Rio de Janeiro, historic glories and the passion of the fanbase.
The most voted design will be produced in a limited, on demand run. Sales will be open for only one week, after which production ends, making the shirt a one off in the club’s history.
