Flamengo are pursuing a striker on loan with an option to buy to compete with Pedro. According to Coluna Do Fla, that recruitment model is on the table.

The board have not settled on a specific target. Interest in Richarlison of Tottenham was explored, but he chose to stay in Europe. He previously played for Fluminense and is a Vasco supporter, both rivals of Flamengo.

Recent approaches have been turned down. Flamengo tabled three bids for Cruzeiro forward Kaio Jorge without agreement. They also attempted to land Taty Castellanos, who preferred a move from Lazio to West Ham.

With no new challenger for Pedro yet, Flamengo face Sampaio Corrêa on Saturday in the sixth round of the Carioca. Kick-off is 21:00 Brasília time at the Maracanã.

The push comes despite the club already completing the most expensive signing in Brazilian football history.
