Flamengo reached the Campeonato Carioca semi-finals on Sunday with a 2-1 win over Botafogo, then several players headed to the Marquês de Sapucaí to enjoy Rio’s Carnival. Daily do Garotinho first reported the sightings.

Gonzalo Plata was seen entering the 'Camarote Rio', while Erick Pulgar and Jorge Carrascal went together to the 'Nosso Camarote'. Léo Pereira took in the 'N1' box, in the same area as Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Other Flamengo players may also have gone to Sapucaí.

Following the derby, the squad were given Monday 16 off, with no club commitments until Tuesday 17.

The team are due to report back on Tuesday morning at the Ninho do Urubu, where Filipe Luís will begin preparations for Lanús (ARG) on Thursday 19. After training at the CT, the delegation will fly to Argentina on Tuesday.

The final session is scheduled in Argentina on Wednesday 18. The Recopa Sul-Americana first leg against Lanús starts at 21:30 Brasília time on Thursday 19, live on ESPN, the subscription channel.
