Flamengo salute FIFA’s Gianni Infantino ahead of Lanús Recopa final | OneFootball

Flamengo have congratulated FIFA president Gianni Infantino on 10 years in charge, with the message arriving on the same day they face Lanús in the Recopa Sudamericana final.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the club used social media to praise a decade defined by a more global game, citing expanded competitions, more nations participating and wider worldwide audiences.

A photo with the post shows Infantino alongside Flamengo president Luiz Eduardo Baptista, known as Bap. It was taken in January last year during talks about the Club World Cup staged in the United States in 2025.

In January, Flamengo did likewise for Alejandro Domínguez as he marked 10 years at the helm of Conmebol, with Baptista sending his congratulations.

With close ties to FIFA and Conmebol, Flamengo hope for Infantino’s support on Thursday when they meet Lanús of Argentina. Kick-off is 21:30 Brasília time.
