Flamengo terminate contract of Libertadores-winning forward Michael

Flamengo have terminated the contract of Michael by mutual agreement on Friday, leaving the Libertadores-winning forward a free agent. The club said in a statement that it thanked him for his professionalism and wished him success for the rest of his career.

Michael was not in Filipe Luís's plans for 2026, with Flamengo well stocked in attacking areas and the left winger down the pecking order.

He also struggled for fitness during 2025 and was omitted from some matchday squads. As a result, the club viewed a parting of ways as the best solution.

Michael is now free to sign elsewhere in the transfer market.

He has received several offers from clubs in Saudi Arabia, and the expectation is that he will sign for Al-Ula (SAU).
