According to Coluna Do Fla, FIFA will pay $11,000, roughly R$ 55,000, per day to clubs for each player at the 2026 World Cup. With nine Flamengo footballers called up, that equates to R$ 495,000 per day, and R$ 8.4 million across the 17-day group stage, rising if Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador and Uruguay progress.
Carlo Ancelotti has selected four Flamengo players for Brazil, namely Danilo, Alex Sandro, Léo Pereira and Lucas Paquetá. Uruguay have called Arrascaeta, De La Cruz and Varela, Colombia include Jorge Carrascal, while Gonzalo Plata is with Ecuador.
Pedro still has a remote chance of going. Neymar has a calf muscle injury and could be cut if he fails to recover in time, which would make the Flamengo No 9 an option for the Italian.
With nine players at the tournament, Flamengo are the Brazilian club with the most call-ups. Palmeiras, Atlético-MG, Grêmio and Internacional complete the top five.
Flamengo’s squad are on holiday during the World Cup pause. Their next 2026 fixture is scheduled for 22 July, against Chapecoense in the 19th round of the Brasileirão.
Before then, the Rubro-Negro will hold a mid-season camp in Portugal and play three friendlies. The opponents are Falkirk (ESC), Birmingham (ING) and Benfica (POR).
