Flamengo have begun renewal talks with four senior players in the final year of their deals, though outcomes hinge on the players’ choices, according to Globo.com.

Danilo has said publicly that, for now, he plans to retire at the end of the year. He could rethink that after the World Cup and, if fit, play at least one more season. Should he continue, Flamengo would then seek an extension.

Flamengo also want Alex Sandro to stay and will discuss fresh terms. The 35-year-old has told friends he hopes to slow down and may seek a less demanding market next year, a call he expects to make after the World Cup. If he moves on, the club would need to consider a replacement.

Bruno Henrique said after the 2025 Brazilian title that this might be his final campaign, but that will not happen. He has told people close to him he aims to keep playing in 2027. Flamengo intend to renew and initial talks have begun.

Everton Cebolinha’s future is the least defined. He signalled a desire to leave last year and the hierarchy believe he plans to finish his cycle at contract end, so there is no renewal push for now. After the Recopa Sudamericana, he said he expected this to be his final season and that no approach had been made, though any rethink would likely need to start with him.

Of the quartet, Bruno Henrique’s continuation looks the most favourable. The club’s most decorated player also wants to remain and has said he plans to live in Rio de Janeiro after retiring. Talks across all four cases are expected to sharpen in the second half of the year.
