Flamengo face Independiente del Valle in Quito on Thursday in the Libertadores quarter-final first leg, and will be without two players. The tie opens at Estádio Olímpico Atahualpa at 21:30 Brasília time.
According to Coluna Do Fla, Alex Sandro is still recovering from pain in his right calf and Evertton Araújo remains in the medical department.
The club have terminated Everton Cebolinha’s contract after he signed for Santos. Head coach Leonardo Jardim has also left out Lorran, who has stepped down to bolster the under-20s, leaving the Portuguese short of recent attacking options for Quito.
Luiz Araújo is the only Flamengo player one booking from suspension, so a caution would rule him out of the next continental match. Vitão and De La Cruz return to contention, giving Jardim extra options to offset the absences in part.
Flamengo are again chasing Libertadores glory this season, with progress to the semi-finals shaped by this tie. The return leg is on 17 September at the Maracanã, also at 21:30 Brasília time, adding further weight to the opener in Quito.
In Brazil, ESPN will show the match on pay TV and Disney+ will stream it.
