Flamengo’s 2026 Algarve triumph rekindles memories of European tours | OneFootball

Flamengo used the 2026 World Cup pause for a camp in Portugal and returned with the Algarve Trophy. The success lifted confidence for the Brasileirão restart.

They lost a 5-4 final to Barcelona, then won the Troféu Restelo against Belenenses and later the Copa Mohamed V in Morocco. That run included a win over Racing of Argentina, champions of the Libertadores and Intercontinental the previous year.

In 1988, an eight-game swing brought five wins and one defeat, plus the Trofeo Colombino, Aldair deciding the final after a 2-1 semi past Real Zaragoza.
