Flamengo attacker Éverton Ribeiro expects the battle for this year’s Brasileirão to go down to the wire.
The Rubro-Negro endured a gruelling recent schedule, but have come out the other side of it level on points at the top of the table with Internacional.
And Ribeiro, who opened the scoring in Sunday’s 5-1 demolition of Corinthians, feels that the Mengão have put themselves firmly in the mix for the title race.
“This year, due to the pandemic, the calendar was a little tight,” the 31-year-old told SporTV.
“We played four games in a week, it makes it difficult for any team that wants to be champion.
“The opposing teams have reinforced themselves, they have great players, great jobs being done.
“I believe that this year will be fought until the end, and I hope that Flamengo will win again.”
Flamengo will be in Copa Libertadores action in midweek when they welcome Colombian side Junior to the Maracanã.
The current holders only need a point from that home game to wrap up top spot in Group A.
