Wallace Yan was the standout, scoring against Lausanne-Sport and Benfica as he pushes to be Pedro’s deputy.

From the academy, Johnny and João Victor strengthened their cases. Johnny shone at left-back in Ayrton Lucas’s absence during a crisis in the role. João Victor was assured alongside Vitão, the ex-Internacional defender.

Samuel Lino remains the headline act, scoring and assisting as he helped set up the win over Benfica, while Lorran’s promising displays left staff pondering his continuity.

Among seniors, Emerson Royal kept his status as the only right-back and was largely reliable. Jardim indicated Erick Pulgar, back from injury, should reclaim his place from Evertton Araújo alongside Jorginho. Both used two weeks in the Algarve to regain rhythm.

Up front, Pedro, Bruno Henrique and Everton Cebolinha remain where they were. Pedro was quiet but keeps his starting spot, Bruno Henrique looked sharp and involved, and Everton Cebolinha stays a key reserve.

Others could have offered more, notably Luiz Araújo, who started games but did not take his chance, whether centrally or wide. Saúl logged valuable minutes yet still looks short. Evertton Araújo contributed and helped integrate youngsters, though he ultimately ceded his place to Pulgar.

Andrew, Dyogo Alves, Daniel Silva, Rayan Lucas, Guilherme Gomes and Alan Santos had little time but drew praise. Joshua played more and impressed.
