Fleury Di Nallo, Olympique Lyonnais’ record goalscorer and the Petit Prince of Gerland, died on Wednesday 13 May aged 83. According to Le Progres, the former forward defined OL’s rise in the 1960s and 1970s, leaving a vast void.
He had been due to attend OL-Auxerre on 25 April but withdrew after an emergency hospital admission.
Di Nallo scored 222 goals for OL and came to embody the club’s stature. The shock in Lyon is considerable.
Supporters remember the Chiesa-Di Nallo-Lacombe trio, whose 502 goals for OL rank among French football’s most celebrated combinations.
After Bernard Lacombe’s departure on 17 June 2025, his confidant and friend Di Nallo has now gone as well. Lyon will pay tribute.
He came to represent Lyon, the seventh arrondissement and Gerland, as well as Italian immigration, success, occasional hardship and steadfast loyalty to the OL shirt.
