Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Jonathan Tah remains one of Hansi Flick’s requested reinforcements for the Barcelona squad for next season.

The 29-year-old is set to leave the Bundesliga club for free when his contract expires on June 30 and everything indicated that he will be joining Barça with a verbal agreement having been secured.

However, with the Catalans facing uncertainties due to Fair Play issues, things had slowed down, which prompted Bayern Munich to swoop in and advance negotiations with the German international.

In fact, reports suggested that Tah was all set to sign for the newly-crowned Bundesliga champions leaving Barça high and dry.

Hansi Flick not giving up

However, as per Mundo Deportivo, Tah has not yet committed to any club and Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is not ready to give up on his pursuit yet.

The defender has a verbal agreement with Barcelona but it cannot formalised at the moment due to the unresolved financial fair play situation.

However, Tah is prepared to wait a little longer to see if a move to Barça becomes feasible. He is aware that Flick is his main supporter but also understands that the coach cannot guarantee his registration, as it is beyond his authority.

Even so, Tah is willing to be patient – though those around him cannot specify whether that means days, weeks, or simply until Barcelona can clarify their financial standing.

Therefore, despite the fact that Barcelona view the transfer as complicated, Flick continues to push for his signing.

Meanwhile, the player is still not ready to fully commit to Bayern Munich, who remain his most aggressive suitors.
