Portuguese midfielder Florentino Luís has completed a loan move to Burnley.
The 26-year-old has left Benfica and signed with Scott Parker's newly-promoted side on a deal with an obligation to buy clause.
The Clarets will pay €2 million (approx £1.7m) immediately plus an additional €24 million at the end of the season, when the transfer will become permanent.
The player, who featured in seven of Benfica's eight matches this season, bid farewell to the fans at the end of Sunday's 2-1 win against Alverca. After the game, Bruno Lage also spoke about the loss of the player.
This will be Florentino's third stint away from Benfica, having previously played in Ligue 1 (Monaco, in 2020/21) and La Liga (Getafe, in 2021/22) on loan from the club where he was trained and had been since early in his development, having joined in 2010.
In total, the Portuguese-Angolan leaves the club with a record of four goals and four assists in 183 official matches, having represented the main team for six distinct seasons. He has won two Primeira Liga titles and one Taça da Liga.
“Playing in the Premier League has always been a dream of mine, so this is a special day for me and my family," Luís said on his arrival at Turf Moor.
“It’s the biggest and best league in the world and to be joining Burnley at this time is really exciting for me.
“I am really looking forward to playing for this historic club and giving my all for the Burnley supporters.”
