Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez announced a fresh club election at a Tuesday press conference, but the event was overshadowed by sexist remarks aimed at journalists.

According to L'Équipe, he declined to assess the season and instead drew attention with comments directed at reporters.

Proceedings began with an attack on ABC, as Pérez said he would cancel his subscription, then singled out one of its female reporters, questioning whether she knew much about football.

Later, when a Fox Sports journalist sought to ask a question, he encouraged her to speak, addressed her as a young woman, and added a jibe that the other journalists present were very ugly.

He closed by stating that Real Madrid’s enemies in the media had been identified and that he would not step aside unless the club’s socios wanted him to.
