According to a recent update from Real Madrid Confidencial, club president Florentino Perez has personally intervened to ensure that Gonzalo Garcia remains a part of the squad for the 2025/26 season.
The decision comes on the back of the youngster’s standout performance at the FIFA Club World Cup.
Real Madrid have faced the problem of overcrowding in the attacking department. With high-profile names like Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr., Rodrygo and Endrick already competing for minutes, it was not clear where Gonzalo would fit in.
But after his performance at the Club World Cup, any doubts about his potential have been put to rest, at least for now.
Gonzalo was a revelation during the tournament. He netted four goals in six matches and provided an assist, becoming the competition’s top scorer.
His consistent involvement, barring the semifinal, proved he could handle pressure on the big stage. He didn’t just participate, he made a real difference.

It was at Castilla where Gonzalo first began to turn heads, and he even had a memorable moment in the senior squad, scoring a last-minute goal in the Copa del Rey.
But the Club World Cup allowed him to truly break into the spotlight. His composure, goal-scoring instinct, and work rate have impressed both the coaching staff and the fans alike.
With Xabi Alonso now at the helm, Gonzalo’s journey at Real Madrid enters a new phase. The coach is expected to give him more minutes, but the challenge remains huge.
Mbappe and Endrick are major names in attack, and breaking into a starting role will be far from easy.
Still, with the support of Florentino Perez, Gonzalo has been given a clear signal that the club believes in him.
Real Madrid fans have always appreciated homegrown talent, and there is genuine excitement around Gonzalo’s growth.
If he continues to deliver at this level, the 2025/26 season could mark the start of something big for the promising attacker.
