Florentino Pérez ‘to make’ €150m bid for Olise if re-elected

According to The Telegraph, Florentino Pérez could table a bid of around €150 million for Bayern Munich’s French winger Michael Olise if he wins re-election. The figure would represent a club-record outlay for Real Madrid.

The suggestion follows Pérez’s pre-election remarks that, should he prevail this weekend, Madrid would submit an offer for a top-level player two days after the vote.

Without naming the target, he said the player does not play in the Premier League, features for a Champions League side, is young and of galáctico stature, drawing comparisons with Cristiano, Ronaldo Nazario, Benzema and Zidane.

He publicly denied that Olise was the choice and even hinted at another name, yet Olise, who joined Bayern from Crystal Palace, fits that brief.

Any deal looks complicated. Olise is under contract at Bayern until 2029 and the club are not contemplating a sale. Honorary president Uli Hoeness has recently said the player is not for sale.

José Mourinho’s view may also matter. The Portuguese, who would arrive with a Pérez victory, regards Olise as a strategic addition and watched him in the recent cup final against Stuttgart.

Madrid also have interest in Joao Neves, a Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, although Olise is considered the priority. The squad is said to have been bolstered already by Ibrahima Konaté and Denzel Dumfries as part of a wider rebuild.
