Florian Maurice has left his role as OGC Nice sporting director by mutual consent, two years after arriving. Nice announced the departure on Monday evening after a season that ended in Ligue 1 survival via the play-off.

According to L'Équipe, Geoffrey Moncada is the leading candidate to replace him. Maurice joined from Rennes in summer 2024.

Nice preserved their top-flight status against Saint-Étienne in the L1/L2 play-off, drawing 0-0 before winning 4-1.

The campaign was turbulent, including a heated confrontation with angry supporters on 30 November that left Maurice visibly shaken. He was deeply affected by that night, yet returned to his duties immediately.

In its statement, the club praised his human qualities and professionalism, noting he remained fully invested in the team's objectives despite a difficult context. It thanked him for his commitment and wished him well for the future.
