Florian Thauvin confirmed as new RC Lens captain | OneFootball

Florian Thauvin has been confirmed as RC Lens captain for the 2026-27 season after speaking to the media on Friday.

According to L'Équipe, new head coach Dino Toppmöller said in late July that Thauvin was leading the race to take the armband following Adrien Thomasson’s move to Rennes.

The 33-year-old forward, a 2018 World Cup winner, called the responsibility an honour, said it adds no extra pressure, described it as a logical next step and insisted his attitude would not change.

The club captain remains Florian Sotoca, 35, although his playing time has dropped markedly over the past year.

Lens face PSG in the Trophée des champions on Sunday at 20:45 at Bollaert.
