Robert Andrich has the best of both worlds, playing alongside both Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala. And now the Bayer Leverkusen star and Bundesliga champion has his say on who is better.
“For me, Flo is better than Jamal,” Andrich, who was a guest on BILD Sport, told WELT TV. “It’s just brutal how he embodies so much winning mentality at his age and also runs so many metres for the team against the ball, he puts his stamp on every team.”
Andrich, who plays alongside Wirtz for both Bayer Leverkusen and Germany, heaped praise on his teammate and compatriot. 21-year-old Wirtz has returned to incredible form following a serious ACL tear in March 2022, in which he missed 43 games for club and country.
Wirtz scored 18 and created 20 in 49 games across all competitions for Leverkusen last season, helping Xabi Alonso’s side go a full domestic campaign unbeaten, lifting the DFB Pokal and clinching their maiden Bundesliga title. Not only that, Die Werkself went undefeated in the Europa League before losing to eventual champions Atalanta in the final in Dublin in May.
With eight goal contributions (seven goals and one assist) in 14 games for Bayer Leverkusen this season, Wirtz continues to dazzle on the pitch.
