After Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat against Manchester United in the Premier League which extends their run to four games without a win, Arne Slot hinted that changes will be made for their UEFA Champions League clash against Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday night.
One of those is expected to be Florian Wirtz, who has struggled since joining Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer for €125m. The 22-year-old has started in both of the Reds’ Champions League games this season, but didn’t start against Chelsea or Manchester United.
Without a goal or assist in the Premier League or Champions League for Liverpool, Wednesday’s game against Eintracht Frankfurt is his first against German opposition since his record-breaking transfer.
According to Kicker, Hugo Ekitiké – who scored 22 goals and provided 12 assists in 48 games across all competitions for Eintracht last season – is also expected to start at the Deutsche Bank Park.
But one player that Slot will have to do without is Ryan Gravenberch after the former Bayern Munich player suffered an ankle injury against Manchester United at the weekend.
