Bayern Munich are not actively trying to sign Liverpool’s Florian Wirtz but will be open to the possibility if an opportunity presents itself in the future, according to Christian Falk.

“Of course, if Florian Wirtz were, at some point in the future, interested in making a return to the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich would be the first team he’d talk to,” said Falk.

Wirtz joined Liverpool in the summer of 2025 for €125m. Following his move, the German attacking midfielder struggled to make an impact at the club, especially given how much money the 20-time English champions spent.

This season hasn’t been any different so far for Wirtz, who has received widespread criticism from fans and media for his performances.

Bayern are in no hurry to sign the player who they were interested in before his move to Anfield. The record German champions already have Jamal Musiala, and Michael Olise is also capable of playing in the number 10 position, which he proved to be capable of doing for the French national team at the World Cup.

The next few months will be crucial in determining Wirtz’s future. If he fails to adapt at Liverpool, then a return to the Bundesliga is on the cards despite no concrete talks or offers at the moment.
