Fluminense seal signing of Paraguayan Carlos Areco for under-20s

Fluminense finalized the signing this Friday (09/04) of 19-year-old Paraguayan center-back Carlos Areco for the club’s Under-20 team. Born in Arroyito, the 1.91m defender signed a contract at the Vale das Laranjeiras Training Center, in Xerém, running until January 2028.

“I always dreamed of coming to Fluminense, one of the biggest clubs in Brazil. It’s a unique feeling and very important to me. I was stunned when I got the news. I have a great responsibility, but I’m prepared. I just want to do my job and put into practice everything I’m learning from Fred. I arrived two months ago, but I already feel good in the day-to-day because my teammates treat me like family. My dream is to win titles and reach the senior team, because playing here is not for just anyone. It means a very strong commitment. When you wear this shirt, you have to give your life on the pitch,” said the new signing.

The left-footed player arrives from Sportivo Trinidense (PAR), the club he had represented since 2023, where he was promoted to the Under-23 team. He was the captain of his age group. The player is already available to coach Fred’s squad, which sits second in the Campeonato Carioca and visits Volta Redonda at 3 p.m. this Saturday (09/05) at CT João Havelange, in Pinheiral (RJ), for the fifth round.
