Hours before the Fluminense v Vasco Copa do Brasil semi-final second leg on Sunday night, rival fans clashed in Baixada Fluminense, leaving a man with stab wounds.

The Military Police said officers from the 20th Battalion were called to Rua Magno de Carvalho in Mesquita, where a disturbance was reported. On arrival, individuals fled, one person was detained, and a victim with stab wounds was taken to a UPA. The incident was recorded at the 53rd Police Station.

The confrontation, involving organised groups from both clubs, took place in the Chatuba community. There is no information on the victim’s condition.

Footage on social media shows a mass brawl, with people running while carrying objects as officers attempt to stop them.

The second leg kicks off at 20:30 at the Maracanã.

Vasco won the first leg 2-1 on Thursday. The winners will face Corinthians or Cruzeiro in the final.
