Phil Foden has become just the 20th player to score 100 Manchester City goals.

Our Academy graduate reached the milestone with his extra-time goal against Al-Hilal in just his 319th appearance.

It makes him the second member of our current squad to pass the landmark after Erling Haaland in September 2024.

61 of his 100 City goals have come in the Premier League, with 18 in the Champions League, 12 in the FA Cup, five in the Carabao Cup and four in the FIFA Club World Cup.

Still just 25, Foden has plenty of opportunity to build on his already impressive tally in the years to come.

His biggest goal return in a season so far came during the 2023/24 campaign, when he netted 27 times to help us to a record fourth Premier League title in a row and claimed a sweep of individual awards including the PFA Players’ Player of the Year, FWA Footballer of the Year, Premier League Player of the Season and Etihad Player of the Year.

Regarded by many as perhaps the finest talent ever produced by our illustrious Academy, Foden’s association with City – as a ballboy, prodigious talent and now world-class superstar - already stretches back the best part of two decades.

Despite his relative youth, it’s safe to say that the Stockport-born attacking midfielder is already destined to go down as a Manchester City favourite.

His poise on the ball, eye for a pass and powerful left foot have made him a joy to watch for football fans all over the world, while his deep passion for the Club instantly bonded him to the Etihad faithful.

Having been a key part of Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering sides, Foden’s haul of 17 major trophies since his senior debut in November 2017 means he ranks amongst the most decorated players in our history.

He scored his first senior goal in September 2018 at Oxford United and netted six times across cup competitions before his maiden Premier League strike in April 2019.

His time on the pitch increased in 2019/20 as did his goal return, netting eight times in 38 matches across all competitions.

Three seasons of consistency followed in 2020/21, 2021/22 and 2022/23 with 16, 14 and 15 goals in each term respectively.

As well as lifting the iconic Treble in 2022/23, Foden achieved a childhood dream for any young City fan in netting a hat-trick in a home Manchester derby as we ran riot to beat our rivals 6-3 in October 2022.

However, 2023/24 marked a significant uptick in Foden’s regularity when it came to finding the back of the net.

He hit 19 Premier League goals, scoring decisive hat-tricks against Brentford and Aston Villa on the way.

There were also five goals in the Champions League, two in the FA Cup and another in the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup as our man won a swathe of personal awards.

After that gruelling campaign and a run to the final of EURO 2024 with England, Foden struggled for form and fitness in 2024/25 but looks rejuvenated at this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup.

Everyone at Manchester City would like to congratulate Phil on this special milestone in his career!
