Seko Fofana’s loan at Porto has ended after half a season, with the midfielder returning to France. According to O Jogo, his impact felt greater than the time he spent at the club.
The 31-year-old Ivory Coast international joined from Rennes in January 2026 on a loan without an option to buy. He added experience, intensity and explosive running in midfield, quickly showing he could tilt big occasions.
He made four Europa League appearances for 317 minutes. In the I Liga he played 12 games for 280 minutes and scored three goals. He also featured for 83 minutes across two Taça de Portugal ties.
He scored in the clássico against Sporting. He then delivered his most telling goal at Braga in a 2-1 win that secured three points in Minho. He later netted against Famalicão, though the Sporting and Famalicão goals earned only draws.
More than the numbers, Fofana stood out for intensity, power, late bursts into the box and a knack for quickening Porto’s play. He became a fans’ favourite across the second half of the campaign.
A brief stint that turned a stop-gap signing into a prominent figure in Porto’s run-in.
