Fonseca says Ainsley Maitland-Niles is in his best OL spell

According to Le Progres, Fonseca believes Ainsley Maitland-Niles is in his best spell at OL. The Englishman had faced criticism at the end of last year.

Maitland-Niles is the second most used player in the OL squad this season with 2,101 minutes, just behind Clinton Mata on 2,122.

Between October and December he mixed marking errors, lapses and bouts of casualness with a foolish red card at Lorient.

In 2026 he has been regularly commended for his performances.

On his arrival, the view was that he produced good performances after about a month, and this season he did not necessarily start well.
