Marseille v Nantes Sunday 4th January  Kick off: 14:00 Ligue 1

For the first time in nearly 10 years it looks like we have a title race in Ligue 1, which is currently being contested between PSG, Marseille and Lens - the latter have been the surprise package of the season so far in the French top flight. Marseille have won 10 of their 16 matches in Ligue 1 this term, with Roberto De Zerbi's side yet to lose at home.

Marseille have won six of their eight home matches in Ligue 1 this season, netting 24 goals in the process. No side has scored more goals at home in Ligue 1 than Marseille. Nantes lost their last three matches in Ligue 1 before the winter break, leaving them 17th in the league and four points from safety.

Nantes' away record is particularly poor, with just one win from their eight matches on the road. They've only scored six goals across these games, suggesting that they will be unable to live with the scoring power of Marseille. Marseille have won each of the last three head-to-head meetings between the sides, coming away 2-0 winners in the most recent meeting.

Tip #2- Huddersfield to win @ 4/7

Huddersfield v Exeter Sunday 4th January  Kick off: 15:00 League One

Huddersfield come into this game full of confidence, having won three of their last four matches, against Rotherham, Port Vale and Northampton. They were held to a 1-1 draw away at 2nd placed Lincoln last time out, which was another good result.

Exeter have been really poor on the road this term, losing nine of their 12 away matches and only scoring six goals across these fixtures. This is particularly concerning as it doesn't look like Exeter have a 'B game' to lean on and grind out results, with their 12 away games all ending in a win or defeat.

This lack of stubbornness will suit Huddersfield, as well as the fact that their opponents aren't heavy scorers - no side has scored fewer goals on the road in League One than Exeter this season. Huddersfield can be prolific at home with 25 goals across their 12 home games this season (2.03 per game) - only Cardiff (29) have scored more goals at home than Huddersfield.

Tip #3- Porto to win @ 2/5

Santa Clara v Porto   Sunday 4th January  Kick off: 18:00Liga Portugal

Porto have been dominant in Liga Portugal this season, with 15 wins from their 16 matches. There isn't another side in Europe that can flex such dominance over their domestic division, with Francesco Farioli doing an excellent job.

Porto come into this game having won each of their last five matches across all competitions. Their dominance stays secure on the road, with Porto winning all eight of their away matches in Liga Portugal this season, netting 19 goals and conceding just two.

They take on a Santa Clara side who sit two points clear of the drop zone having won just four of their 15 matches. Their recent form has been quite poor, with just one win from their last five games, which was a home triumph against Casa Pia.

Porto have won four of their five trips to face Santa Clara in Liga Portugal in a run stretching back to 2020. They should be able to add to that strong record here, with Porto outperforming Santa Clara in nearly every single underlying metric.

Tip #4- Atletico Madrid to win @ 5/6

Real Sociedad v Atletico Madrid  Sunday 4th January  Kick off: 20:00 LaLiga

Atletico Madrid enjoyed a strong run of form just before the winter break, with Diego Simeone's side winning each of their last four matches across all competitions. They haven't quite been able to keep pace with Barcelona and Real Madrid right at the summit of LaLiga, but are currently the best of the rest in the Spanish top flight, with 11 wins from their 18 matches.

Only three of these wins have come on the road, but this game represents an excellent opportunity for Atletico Madrid to improve their travelling record, with Real Sociedad enduring a challenging season. Sociedad have only managed to win three of their eight home games in LaLiga this term, conceding 13 goals across these matches.
