PSV v FeyenoordSunday February 1, 13:30
PSV are the best team in the Eredivisie by some distance, as shown by the 14 point lead they boast at the top of the table. They have the chance to increase that lead to 17 points here when they take on second placed Feyenoord, who are in a battle to secure European football next season.
PSV have lost just one of their 10 home games in the Dutch top-flight this term, winning seven of these games. No side has picked up more points at home in the Eredivisie PSV (23). Peter Bosz' side have also scored more goals than any other side at home this season (33), too.
Feyenoord have struggled for consistency in recent weeks, with just two wins from their last nine matches across all competitions - these wins came against relegation-threatened Heracles, and Sturm Graz. Feyenoord's last five wins in the Eredivisie, spread across their last 10 games, have been against sides in the bottom half of the table.
Aston Villa v BrentfordSunday February 1, 13:30
Aston Villa are in the title race - they are the 16/1 third favourites with the Betfair Sportsbook - and could close to within a point of Arsenal by the end of the weekend, depending on results. Unai Emery's team reinforced their momentum with a 3-2 victory over Salzburg in midweek, securing a top-eight spot in the Europa League and marking a fourth win in their last five.
Villa Park remains a formidable fortress under the Spanish manager. In the Premier League this season, they have won eight of their 11 home matches - only Arsenal and Man City (9) have more home victories. Their defensive solidity at home is equally impressive, having conceded just nine goals, with only those same two rivals boasting a better record.
Brentford, however, transform into a different side when traveling. A mere nine of their 33 points this season (27%) have been earned away from home, amounting to just three wins from 11 away fixtures - notably without a single draw. Brentford's scarcity of away goals (12) is a particular concern when facing a Villa side so secure defensively at home.
Celtic v FalkirkSunday February 1, 15:00
Martin O'Neill has got this Celtic side ticking again after a disastrous middle spell of the season under Wilfred Nancy. O'Neill's seamless takeover of the squad begs serious questions around what the former MLS coach was doing during his time at Celtic Park, but the Hoops are refocused under O'Neill's tutelage.
Celtic have won three of their last five matches across all competitions, only failing to win in games against Bologna in the Europa League, and Hearts - a direct contender in the race for the title in Scotland. Celtic still managed to draw both of those games, and there is an extra resilience about the side under O'Neill.
Despite the issues that Celtic have faced this season, they've still managed to win eight of their 11 games at home this term. They've scored the joint most goals at home of any side in the Scottish Premiership (25) and have only conceded eight goals across these matches - another metric they rank top for in the Scottish top flight.
Celtic ran out 1-0 winners in the most recent meeting between the sides which took place during O'Neill's first spell at the club this season. Celtic have beaten Falkirk in each of the last six head-to-head meetings, including both meetings last year, which Celtic won by an aggregate scoreline of 8-1.
Dortmund v HeidenheimSunday February 1, 16:30
There isn't much of a title race going on in the Bundesliga this season, but Dortmund are the closest competition to Bayern Munich at the moment, with Niko Kovac's side sitting eight points behind the league leaders.
Dortmund find themselves in a strong position to qualify for Europe with a six point gap to Stuttgart, who currently occupy the Europa League spot in the German top flight. Their home form has been particularly impressive this season, with seven wins from their nine home games, avoiding defeat in all of these matches.
Dortmund have only conceded six goals across these matches, which is the best defensive record in the division. It's hard to see how Heidenheim can cause trouble for Dortmund at all here, the away side sit bottom of the Bundesliga and have only won three of their 19 games in the top-flight this term.
Heidenheim have conceded 42 goals across these matches, the joint most of any side in the Bundesliga, alongside Frankfurt. They lack firepower on the road to unlock this stubborn Dortmund defence, Heidenheim have only scored seven goals across their nine away games this term - winning just one of these matches.
Dortmund ran out 2-0 winners in the initial league meeting between the sides, and I can see a similar outcome here, given that Heidenheim enter this clash having failed to win any of their last five matches across all competitions.
