Nottingham Forest are closing in on a deal for Bologna winger Dan Ndoye as they look to strengthen their forward line following Anthony Elanga’s £55m move to Newcastle - with the Europa League qualifiers also assessing whether to pursue a move for Man City's James McAtee.
Ndoye, a Switzerland international with 22 caps, has emerged as Forest’s preferred option after missing out on Johan Bakayoko, who opted to join RB Leipzig from PSV. Ndoye scored eight goals in 30 Serie A appearances last season and is believed to favour a move to the Premier League despite interest from Napoli.
The 23-year-old began his professional journey at Lausanne before joining Nice, where he struggled to make an impact. A loan return to Lausanne was followed by a permanent move to Basel, where Ndoye revived his form and earned a switch to Bologna in 2023.
He played a key role in the Serie A side's campaign last term, with 12 goal involvements in total, and helped Bologna win the Coppa Italia.
Monitoring McAtee
Nuno Espirito Santo's side have also made enquiries regarding playmaker McAtee, but are reluctant to match City’s latest valuation.
The 22-year-old, part of England’s victorious Under-21 European Championship squad last month, was initially available for around £25m - but City have since raised that figure closer to the £42.5m Chelsea paid for Cole Palmer.
McAtee is attracting strong interest from West Ham, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Borussia Dortmund. The midfielder has already travelled to Germany to tour both Bundesliga clubs as he weighs up his options. He made 27 appearances for City last season across all competitions, but remains on the fringes under Pep Guardiola.
