Frank de Boer has been sacked as head coach of Al-Jazira. The former Ajax, Barcelona and Netherlands national team defender was dismissed after just thirteen games in charge of the UAE side. On Monday night the Dutchman watched his side lose 4-2 to Al-Wahda, in what was their third defeat within the last six matches. Just a few hours after the match, De Boer was sent packing.
Al-Jazira appointed Frank de Boer as head coach last summer, as the successor of Marcel Keizer. The club made the classic mistake of confusing De Boer with his brother Ronald in their announcement video. After thirteen matches, Frank de Boer is no longer the manager of Al-Jazira. The former Ajax, Crystal Palace and Netherlands national team head coach will have to wait for his next opportunity in management.
As a manager, De Boer has won seven trophies. The 53-year-old guided Ajax to four Eredivisie titles and one Super Cup. With MLS side Atlanta United, De Boer won the US Open Cup and the Campeones Cup. At Crystal Palace, Frank de Boer oversaw just five matches, losing four of those games.
