Former Arsenal sporting director Edu Gaspar has joined the board of directors at Bulgarian side Levski Sofia as part of a major restructuring of the club’s management model.

The former Brazil international spent part of his playing career at Arsenal and was a member of the club’s Invincibles side which went unbeaten in the 2003/04 Premier League season.

After retiring, he moved into football administration, holding roles at Corinthians and with the Brazilian national team before joining Arsenal as technical director in 2019.

Edu later became the club’s sporting director and played a key role in shaping Arsenal’s sporting structure, recruitment strategy and first-team squad, including the appointment of Mikel Arteta as manager.

He subsequently took up the role of global director of Football at Nottingham Forest, overseeing football operations, recruitment and sporting strategy within a multi-club structure.
