A former member of the youth ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has admitted that he has been left flattered by recent links with Real Madrid.
The player in question? Alejandro Grimaldo.
The name of Bayer Leverkusen star Grimaldo has emerged as a prominent one in the headlines in Spain’s capital over the last couple of weeks.
This comes amid claims that the 29-year-old has been earmarked as one of several leading targets to reinforce the left-back ranks at Real Madrid.
Grimaldo is well known by incoming Blancos boss Xabi Alonso, who oversaw the finest form of the Spaniard’s career during their time together in Germany over the last couple of seasons.
And if the latest comments on the part of Grimaldo himself are anything to go by, then he appears to be more than open to the prospect of a reunion at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Speaking during an interview with El Chiringuito TV early this week, the talented full-back admitted:
“Real Madrid links? I’m very happy, it’s a pride to be linked to Real Madrid. I want to play for the best teams in the world. My dream is to return to Spain.”
