Hansi Flick is set to be named as the new head coach of Barcelona after the Spanish side sacked Xavi Hernandez.
Barcelona have made the decision to sack Xavi following talks with president Joan Laporta, which continues a chaotic recent period in Catalonia.
The Spaniard had been persuaded to stay on as manager last month, after an initial announcement in January that he would step down at the Camp Nou at the end of the campaign.
Fabrizio Romano is reporting that the decision to sack Xavi has now been communicated to the Barcelona manager and Flick will be named as his replacement.
Barcelona have been talking with the former Bayern Munich and Germany manager for several months and have decided on the 59-year-old to lead them next season.
Xavi led Barcelona to the La Liga title last season but the Catalans have struggled during a disappointing defence, finishing a distant second behind Real Madrid in the title race in 2023-24.
Flick’s reputation was built during a successful spell at Bayern Munich, in which the German led the Bavarians to two Bundesliga titles and a league, Champions League, and DFB-Pokal treble in 2019/20.
He departed Bayern with a win percentage of 81.40% but endured a mixed time in charge of the German national team before being sacked in September 2023.
