Christopher Jullien has offered Celtic supporters a nostalgic reminder of his time in Glasgow after appearing in Hoops training gear while working to maintain his fitness in Paris…

The French centre-back is currently searching for his next club following the expiration of his contract with Montpellier and was recently linked with a move to ESTAC Troyes.

As he waits for his next opportunity, Jullien has been undertaking individual sessions and shared a series of photographs from his latest workout.

One detail immediately caught the attention of Celtic fans, with the 33-year-old wearing a training top from the club’s 2021/22 campaign.

It is now four years since Jullien brought his Celtic career to an end, having originally arrived from Toulouse in a £7million deal in the summer of 2019.

His willingness to embrace the club, coupled with a knack for delivering in major moments, quickly established him as a popular figure among the support.

Ironically, the Celtic kit worn during his latest training session comes from a season in which Jullien barely featured.

He managed only one competitive appearance under Ange Postecoglou in 2021/22, although his absence was largely the consequence of the devastating knee injury he had suffered the previous campaign rather than simply falling out of favour.

Jullien sustained the problem in December 2020 while making a desperate goal-line clearance against Dundee United at Celtic Park.

His momentum carried him heavily into the post and he subsequently required a stretcher to leave the pitch, beginning a gruelling rehabilitation process which kept him out of action for 409 days.

That injury effectively interrupted a Celtic career which had already produced several unforgettable moments.

None were bigger domestically than his winner against Rangers in the 2019 League Cup final, with Jullien’s finish at Hampden followed by an instantly recognisable knee-slide celebration.

He also provided one of Celtic’s great European moments of that period when he struck a dramatic late winner against Lazio at Celtic Park.

The goal helped Neil Lennon’s side complete a memorable double over the Serie A outfit as Celtic eventually finished top of their Europa League group.

Lennon had identified Jullien’s aerial ability as a major asset when bringing him to Scotland, and the defender quickly demonstrated his threat at both ends of the pitch before injury dramatically altered the course of his time at the club.

Jullien has subsequently spoken warmly about his relationship with Lennon, describing his former manager as a “father” to him during their spell together at Celtic.

His recollections of working under Postecoglou have been considerably less positive.

The defender previously claimed promises made to him were not fulfilled and characterised their relationship as “distant”, even revealing that he departed Celtic without saying goodbye to the Australian.
