Humphries joined the Chelsea academy in 2022 and she went on to represent the club in the Professional Game Academy League on a regular basis. The defender also won the WSL Academy Cup with The Blues in 2023/2024.

The youngster got her first taste of professional football last season in loan spells with Barclays WSL2 clubs Bristol City and Charlton Athletic. Humphries is now returning to the second tier once again with Portsmouth.

After adding Humphries to his squad, Portsmouth boss Jay Sadler said “We’re delighted to bring Greta into the squad. We’ve been monitoring her for a while now.

“She’s an exciting young defender who has been schooled well at Chelsea and already has valuable experience in this league from her two loan spells last season.

“She has a strong physical framework, adding height to our defensive unit. Her progressive nature with the ball will suit our style, likewise her aggressive ability when defending.

“Most importantly, she’s a humble and hard-working character who will fit in well with the group we have here.”

Portsmouth kick-off the new Barclays WSL2 season with a home fixture against Durham on Sunday 7 September 2025.
