Earlier this week, it emerged that Manchester United have accelerated efforts to add reinforcements to their full-back position.

In particular, United’s left-back options appear thin on paper heading into the new season. It has been nearly 14 months since Tyrell Malacia last played for the club, and he is still far away from full fitness.

Luke Shaw also endured an injury-riddled season. However, he returned to action this summer for England. As a result, he is entitled to a minimum three-week break, leading to his absence from the squad for the pre-season tour to the US.

Accordingly, the club’s recruitment strategy has shifted toward intensifying the search for a new left-back.

On Wednesday, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United are eyeing Crystal Palace’s Tyrick Mitchell, Feyenoord’s David Hancko, and former Chelsea man Marcos Alonso as potential options.

Now, HITC have thrown another name into the mix. Their report claims United are also monitoring Archie Brown this summer.

The Englishman, who is a product of Derby County’s academy, has been added to United’s list of targets after a promising spell in Belgium with Gent.

The 22-year-old made 44 appearances across all competitions for the Belgian outfit, providing four assists in the process.

Interestingly, INEOS are already well aware of Brown’s talents, as they signed him for their Swiss side Lausanne-Sport in 2021. His exploits at the INEOS-owned club paved the way for a move to Gent.

HITC adds that Brown’s name has also emerged on Chelsea’s radar in recent months.

The Mancunian giants are also exploring the possibility of signing a new right-back amid uncertainty over Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s future, with his current contract due to expire in 2025.

Wan-Bissaka is reportedly hoping to move to Inter, leading to suggestions of a potential swap deal involving Denzel Dumfries.
