Former Feyenoord striker Robert Bozeník has continued his career in the Championship. The 25-year-old Slovakian has signed a three-year contract with Stoke City.
After ultimately struggling at De Kuip, Feyenoord sold Bozeník to Boavista in 2023. The 2001 Portuguese champions were recently demoted to Portugal’s fifth tier after financial woes. This sparked a veritable exodus, with players like Marco van Ginkel, Layvin Kurzawa (formerly of PSG), and the Slovakian leaving on free transfers.
Bozeník’s 13 goals in 64 official matches for the Portuguese club caught the eye of several clubs, but each time, a move failed to materialise. In April, for example, a move to Real Salt Lake was called off. Last winter, things went south when Sevilla came calling.
Although it’s not a club in a top European league, Bozeník signs with Stoke and will play under former Coventry City manager Mark Robins at the Bet365 Stadium.
