Both De Vrij and Acerbi had previously been mentioned in discussions involving João Cancelo.

However, that deal ultimately collapsed after the Portuguese full-back chose a move to Barcelona instead.

With Cancelo no longer in the picture, Al-Hilal could now refocus their efforts directly on strengthening the centre of defence.

Inzaghi remains keen to add a familiar profile capable of making an immediate impact.

Inter, for their part, are open to evaluating offers but have yet to receive a decisive proposal.
