Milan and Italy legend Roberto Donadoni feels Tuesday’s Champions League game against Feyenoord is ‘extremely delicate’ and a ‘crossroads’ for the Rossoneri’s season.
Milan will host Feyenoord in the second leg of the Champions League knockout playoff after losing 1-0 in the Netherlands last week.
The Serie A giants were expected to get a result away last week, as highlighted by new Non AAMS Betting Sites 2025. However, a narrow defeat at the De Kuip means Sergio Conceiçao’s men must beat Feyenoord on Tuesday to qualify for the Round of 16.
Milan host Feyenoord on the back of a 1-0 win over strugglers Hellas Verona in Serie A.
“They won at home with a narrow result against a team fighting relegation, with a significant technical gap between them. That being said, after the defeat in Rotterdam, securing three points was necessary to send a message,” Donadoni told Gazzetta via TMW.
“Tuesday’s match is extremely delicate, a crossroads for the season. I hope Milan can overcome this hurdle.”
Is Donadoni confident about Milan’s chances to qualify?
“I am, but only if there’s a change of pace; otherwise, in a few days, we’ll find ourselves having the same discussions as at the start of the season,” the ex-winger replied.
January signing Santiago Gimenez has had a considerable impact at San Siro, scoring two goals in two Serie A appearances.
“He’s a striker who has given me good impressions because he’s technically skilled and has a natural instinct for goal,” said Donadoni.
“He was an important addition, a No.9 who has made a promising start. His two Serie A goals are a great introduction.”
Gimenez didn’t score in his recent meeting with his former team, Feyenoord, but the Rossoneri will need his goals on Tuesday to progress to the next phase.
Joao Felix has also impressed at San Siro since joining the team on loan from Chelsea in the winter transfer window.
“I like players like him because he has quality, he’s quick, sharp-minded, and good at creating numerical superiority,” said Donadoni.
“The key is to find the right context to integrate him, but his early performances have been encouraging.”
Milan are currently outside the top four in Serie A as they sit 8th in the standings with 41 points in 24 rounds. They are five points below a Champions League spot with a game in hand to be played against direct rivals Bologna next week.
Milan’s next league game is away at Torino on February 22, but their focus is all on the upcoming Champions League game against Feyenoord at San Siro.
