The football world has only been talking about one incident after the game between Real Madrid and Benfica last night – Gianluca Prestianni’s alleged racist comments towards Vinicius Jr.
A large part of the debate has revolved around whether or not the player indeed said what Vinicius claims, but it would appear unlikely for the Brazilian to lie about something as serious as what he claims.
And then there is the precaution taken by Prestianni when committing the said abuse as he covered his mouth with his shirt specifically – a clear hint that it was nothing that could be caught on camera without repercussions.
Former Manchester City defender and current CBS Sports Golazo pundit Micah Richards joined his colleague Thierry Henry earlier today in defending Vinicius Jr. and calling out Prestianni.

“Prestianni is an absolute coward, because no one but him and Vini Jr. will know what happened,” he began.
“Because he covered his mouth with the jersey and now we are having these conversations: did it really happen, didn’t it happen? His reaction says it all, Vinicius wouldn’t lie with that,” he added, making it clear he sided with the Real Madrid star.
Richards also extended his deepest sympathy to the Real Madrid forward and explained how it must have been a very difficult situation for him.
“When you see the moment there, you almost feel sorry for Vinicius Jr. And then the reaction from the crowd, they are giving him some. They might not know the situation, but everyone is on social media now, people know what’s going on.”
“For him to get that abuse [from the crowd] after he was the one who allegedly abused, I don’t think it’s right,” he added.
