Mathias Jørgensen (34) has left Anderlecht for an American adventure with LA Galaxy. The MLS club announced the Danish centre-back’s arrival on Wednesday afternoon.

‘Zanka’, as he is known, was signed by the purple-white in August, yet could not convince critics at the Lotto Park. Now, after half a season, his time at Anderlecht has come to an end as he joins LA Galaxy on a two-year contract that runs to the end of the 2026 MLS season.

Beginning his career with F.C. Copenhagen, Jørgensen went on to record 19 goals and five assists in 303 appearances (269 starts) across all competitions for his hometown club and won five Danish Superligas and five Danish Cups. After this, The defender left Denmark to join PSV Eindhoven where he spent two years.

The towering defender most recently recorded one goal and two assists in 26 appearances (25 starts) across all competitions with Anderlecht. Prior to his time in Belgium, Zanka spent three seasons with English Premier League side Brentford. He has also turned out for Huddersfield, Fenerbahçe, and Fortuna Düsseldorf.

Zanka’s quality and experience will be a great addition to our group as we prepare to participate in multiple competitions in the upcoming season.”
