Former Real Madrid captain Lucas Vazquez has added his voice to the growing debate surrounding the Negreira case.
Now playing for Bayer Leverkusen, the experienced full-back did not hide his disbelief at the allegations linked to payments involving the refereeing sphere.
Speaking in an interview with AS, Vazquez reflected on how the case has evolved over time.
He framed the issue as one that goes beyond rivalry and enters the realm of institutional credibility.
“Little by little, the truth is coming out and we are seeing what happened during Negreira’s years. Sooner or later, justice will be done.
“It is something that must be considered and punished… But, of course, it is not normal. It is not normal,” he noted.
Vazquez’s intervention comes at a time when the relationship between Barcelona and Real Madrid is at its lowest point in years.

Tensions have escalated sharply following Barcelona’s decision to repair ties with UEFA and the ECA, effectively stepping away from the Super League project.
That move was interpreted in Madrid as a betrayal, further widening the gap between the two giants.
Since then, Real Madrid have intensified their stance on the Negreira case. The club has not limited itself to public statements.
President Florentino Perez has repeatedly addressed the issue in speeches, while the club has also taken concrete legal steps to apply pressure.
In fact, as reported before, the Los Blancos are now seeking multi-million-euro compensation from Barcelona for damages.
Earlier this month, the lawyer representing Real Madrid questioned Barcelona president Joan Laporta during his court testimony.
More recently, Madrid requested access to Barcelona’s audit documents and financial reports covering the period between 2010 and 2018, signalling that they intend to pursue the matter thoroughly.
