Despite recent wins over Deportivo Alaves and Talavera, Xabi Alonso’s job at Real Madrid is far from secure, especially considering how the team complicated things against a lower-tier opponent.

Keeping that in mind, Real Madrid have already started looking out for contingency plans. While their plan B is to simply appoint Alvaro Arbeloa as a direct replacement for Alonso, the club are also looking out for plan C by scouting coaches available in the market.

One name who has been made available in the market is Davide Ancelotti, the son of Carlo Ancelotti, who left Botafogo recently.

In the wake of the news, Real Madrid were immediately linked with a move for Davide Ancelotti as a potential replacement for Alonso.

Former assistant coach to his father Carlo, Davide had shown brilliant tactical craft and understanding of the game during his time at Real Madrid and knows the environment quite well.

Carlo Ancelotti to take Davide to the World Cup

However, a recent report from Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Davide Ancelotti is is set to reunite with his father Carlo with the Brazil national team, thus ruling him out as an option for Real Madrid.

Davide had already worked with his father’s staff in the Brazilian national team after leaving Real Madrid earlier this year, before the Botafogo opportunity came along.

Now, it appears Carlo is going to take him to the World Cup as part of Brazil’s support staff.

This means Davide is no longer an option for Real Madrid should they sack Alonso in the coming weeks.

However, the young Italian could be an option next summer, provided Alonso does get fired and Arbeloa stays on as the interim manager until the end of the season.
