Real Madrid have been closely tracking the performances of some of their former youngsters who are thriving away from the club.
Nico Paz, excelling at Como in Italy, remains firmly on the radars of the Spanish capital club while, closer to home, they are also monitoring the progress of Miguel Gutierrez at Girona.
Real Madrid have affordable buyback clauses for both players and are contemplating activating them in the summer.
Now, according to Defensa Central, Gutierrez is fully aware that Real Madrid have a buyback clause for him, and the club have informed him that, at the moment, they have no definitive plan and “cannot say anything” about his future.
The Merengues want to wait until the end of the season before making a decision. It is a matter entirely in Real Madrid’s hands and Gutierrez knows he cannot influence whether or not the clause will be exercised.
The academy graduate is eager to return to the Bernabeu – something that his agent confirmed not so long ago. But he knows the move will not be straightforward.

Currently, the squad includes Fran Garcia and Ferland Mendy, both under contract for several more years. While neither player has received official offers, Real Madrid are aware that several clubs are monitoring them.
If either Fran or Mendy were to leave this summer, Real Madrid would have a strong opportunity to re-sign Gutierrez for €8 million.
Real Madrid’s strategy is to wait until the end of the campaign before making any final decisions regarding squad changes. That said, the coaching staff recognises the need to strengthen the left-back position.
Compared to the reinforcements expected in other areas, the left flank currently lacks depth and consistency. It is one of the weaker spots in the squad, and reinforcing it is on the club’s agenda heading into next season.
While Gutierrez is on the radars, he is not the only left-back being evaluated. Real Madrid are also tracking other standout performers across Europe who could be viable alternatives.
