AS Monaco have officially announced the appointment of Javier Arnaíz as the club’s performance director. The Spaniard thus takes over from Yann Le Meur, who was dismissed last February.
Head fitness coach at Real Madrid during Xabi Alonso’s spell in charge of the Merengues this season, the new Monaco executive has been out of work since last January following his departure from the Spanish giants. A doctor of sports science, Arnaíz has significant experience in football, having also worked at Getafe, Rayo Vallecano, Botafogo and with the Mexican Football Federation.
It was at the latter that the 36-year-old led a team of around 50 people specialising in fitness training, medicine, physiotherapy, psychology, nutrition and sports science.
A man with a wealth of experience, who has also had the opportunity to be involved in the world of basketball and to help prepare Mexican athletes for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
