Everton Football Club intends to rebuff all transfer enquiries for Jordan Pickford during the upcoming summer window. According to a recent report by Mick Brown of Football Insider, the club see the England goalkeeper as a key part of their future plans.
Despite reaching the age of 31, the shot-stopper continues to hold his position as the undisputed first choice for both his club and the national team. His influence remains massive. A spectacular save from a Sandro Tonali volley recently preserved a narrow victory over Newcastle United. That specific intervention secured three points for the Toffees. It pushed the squad into eighth place in the Premier League table as of early March 2026.
Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown informed the publication that the club hierarchy refuses to even entertain the prospect of a departure. Various high-profile teams will likely seek new goalkeeping options this summer. However, the Toffees have effectively closed the door on any potential negotiations.
This commitment to their number one follows a pattern the club established last season. Back then, they declined to sign a replacement, even when someone presented the opportunity. Instead, the Washington-born athlete showed his loyalty by signing a contract extension at the newly christened Hill Dickinson Stadium. This deal ties his future to the Liverpool waterfront until June 2029. Brown emphasised that the player feels genuinely settled. The coaching staff remains equally happy with his work.
“There’s no chance Everton would even consider selling Pickford,” Brown told Football Insider.
“I’m told, and it’s clear from everything you see at Everton, he’s very happy there, and the club are very happy with him; there’s no way they’d let him go.
“He’s an outstanding goalkeeper, sometimes maybe you look at think just calm down, but it’s his personality that gets him so fired up to perform.
“There’s a reason he’s been England’s first choice for so many years under different managers, and he showed against Newcastle that he steps up when it matters.
“You won’t see a volley hit harder and sweeter than Tonali’s one, and that save was unbelievable; he really is a top, top goalkeeper.
“So it doesn’t matter if there’s interest in him; he’s such an important player to Everton, and there’s no way they’d ever let him leave for any amount of money.”

As we stand here in March 2026, Everton occupy a fascinating crossroads where sentiment and sporting logic meet. The Toffees currently sit eighth in the league. This position reflects a new stability under the current management. A 31-year-old goalkeeper might usually seem like a shrinking asset.
However, the England international offers a level of security that goes beyond market value. His performance against Newcastle proves that his reflexes remain sharp. His real value lies in his role as a bridge. Pickford connects the old days at Goodison Park to the fresh era at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The club could theoretically fund a squad overhaul by selling a peak-age asset for a significant fee. Yet, for a club finally reaching the top half of the table, such a move is a big risk. Thomas Tuchel continues to rely on him as the English national team’s primary guardian.
This factor keeps his profile high and his standards elite. For the fans, keeping a player who knows the club’s DNA is vital for maintaining the identity of the team during this change. Stability brings success. By blocking any summer moves, Everton signal to the rest of the league that they are no longer a selling club. They are now a destination with genuine goals for European qualification.
