Antwerp have been dealt a huge blow for next season. The side, who recently sacked their head coach, look set to lose their captain this summer. Former Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen has, according to HLN, decided not to renew his contract with the club. There is said to be interest in Janssen from clubs in the MLS and the Middle East, with the forward looking to explore his options this summer.
The striker, who struggled in the Premier League with Tottenham, joined Antwerp back in the summer of 2022 and has been a key player ever since. Janssen helped the side win their first title in decades and the cup. So far, he has played 172 games for the side, scoring 64 goals and providing 27 assists.
Antwerp look set to miss out on European football again this season, with Janssen set to be joined in leaving the club by Gyrano Kerk this summer. Sporting Director Marc Overmars has a big job on his hands to find the right head coach and bring in players that do not cost too much but can help the side get back into being in the top six.
