Former US Open tennis champion Sloane Stephens and football star Jozy Altidore are divorcing after four years

Former US Open champion Sloane Stephens has confirmed that her marriage to former football star Jozy Altidore has ended after four years. The player said in a post that they had decided to end their marriage and asked for privacy.

She said she was approaching the transition with mutual respect and thanked supporters for their understanding and continued support.

Stephens and Altidore married on New Year’s Day in 2022 after he proposed in 2019. The pair first met as children and reconnected in 2016.

Their wedding took place at the St. Regis Bal Harbour in Miami Beach.

Stephens won the US Open women’s singles title in 2017, beating Marian Keys 6-3 6-0 after 11 months out with a foot injury.
